Cash & Carry

Are you a fashionista looking for something to do this weekend? Well look no further than the Cash & Carry Boutique Warehouse Sale this Friday night and Saturday afternoon.  The event takes place at The Boulevard, across from the Galleria in Brentwood.  This fabulous event brings 17 local boutiques together to give shoppers amazing deals on items from their stores.  All merchandise will be at least 50% off and purchases must be made in cash (hence the name of the sale).

Some boutiques that will be there include Laurie Solet, Wish, Vie, Susan Lynn's, and Blush.  The preview is on Friday night, January 29th from 6-8pm.  On Saturday, January 30th, you can shop from 10-4. The event costs $10 to attend, but some of the proceeds will be going to St. John's Mercy Foundation.  Come early to get the best stuff available! Hope to see you there!

Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion

The 2010 Awards' Season officially kicked off last night with the Golden Globes, and fashionistas all over the country rejoiced.  The popular color choice of the night was purple, worn by Fergie, Sandra Bullock, and Leona Lewis to name a few.  Shades of pink and the color black were also seen all over the red carpet.

On my best dressed list: Drew Barrymore in Versace, Penelope Cruz in Armani, Sandra Bullock in Bottega Venetta, Christina Hendricks in a dress by Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, and Emily Blunt in Dolce and Gabbana.  These women rocked it out on the red carpet and took fashion risks in their choices of colors and silhouettes.  Although some thought that Penelope Cruz played it safe with her black dress, I think she looks fabulous as always.

For my worst dressed list: Julianne Moore in Balenciaga and Chloe Sevigny in Versace.  Moore's dress was a bad silhouette choice for her body.  And Sevigny's dress looked bulky and made the "Big Love" star look bigger than she is.

This is only the beginning for fabulous red carpet fashion.  There are plenty of more awards shows to look forward to this season, as well as many more fashion hits and misses.  These were just some of my favorites and least favorites.  Who do you think was the best/worst dressed last night?

Longing for Leather

I've been looking everywhere for the perfect leather jacket.  I've been wanting one for a while, ever since my sister came back from overseas with the perfect dark brown, distressed leather jacket.  Unfortunately for me, real leather jackets here in the U.S. are pretty pricey, and I don't have the funds for that right now.

Recently, I received the Nordstrom catalog in the mail.  I was reluctant to flip through it because it was filled with spring pieces that I certainly can't wear in the bitter winter cold of St. Louis.  However, when I looked through the magazine, I found dozens of items that I was eager to purchase (I suggest you check it out!).  And on page 50, two leather jackets sat there smiling back at me.

Although the jackets I found are faux-leather, they look very real and have the perfect fit.  The two designers featured are Bernardo and Steve Madden, and both jackets retail at $68!  I did some more research and besides these two jackets, Nordstrom has other faux-leather jackets and real leather jackets at all price points.  These jackets are great for those of us fashionistas that want the expensive leather look but not the expensive leather price.  Check out the latest Nordstrom catalog or nordstrom.com for the latest looks in leather.  You won't be disappointed!

MyStyle on My iPhone

So this Christmas, I received the iPhone from my Dad.  And I absolutely love it! Now I know what I've been missing out on for the past few years. Checking my e-mail and Facebook is great, but I also love all of the apps that are available.  A couple of months ago, I wrote about the Tommy Hilfiger app that was going to be launched to improve online shopping on the iPhone.  That app was pretty cool, but my new favorite app is called MyStyle Fashion Assistant.  Although this app is not free ($2.99 for a limited time!), it is definitely worth the purchase.  I'm still in the beginning stages of the iPhone, where I'm only going after the free apps, so you know this one must be good.

MyStyle Fashion Assistant is an app that was created by fashion experts for fashionistas like you and me.  On the opening page, you get a free "tip" that gives you fashion advice from what colors to wear together to what patterns make you look slimmer than others.  From there, you browse through the app, which is like your own personal fashion stylist.  You can take pictures of items that you have, or items that you want, and create outfits for certain occasions.  You can also plan ahead for an upcoming trip by choosing what outfits will work best.  And perhaps one of the best features is that you can mark an item on a calendar so that you know what day you wore that specific piece.  No more worrying about wearing the exact same outfit twice!

Having your own fashion assistant on your iPhone is something that all of us fashionistas could benefit from.  Although putting together an outfit isn't the hardest thing in the world, being able to see things together without trying it all on makes things so much easier.  This app helps you plan ahead, organize your closet, and look your best.  What more could you ask for?
